Susan Garrity is a lifelong Mainer and sea-glass enthusiast based in Cape Elizabeth. Now retired, she spends her days doing what she loves most—scouring the shoreline for sea glass, sea pottery, driftwood, and other treasures that wash up with the tide.
Since retiring, she’s been combing the coast multiple times a week, calling it her “grown-up version of an Easter egg hunt.” For her, it’s part meditation, part adventure, and completely addicting. What started with collecting has turned into Ocean Air Creations, a creative outlet for turning her coastal finds into one-of-a-kind art. It all began when she covered the foundation of her home in hand-picked beach rocks—then came the driftwood trees, hearts, wreaths, mirrors, ornaments, sea glass suncatchers, wind chimes, souvenirs, and more. Each piece is inspired by the rugged Maine coastline and made with love.
Susan has been collecting sea glass and beach treasures for as long as she can remember, but now she’s sharing them in a whole new way—offering others a little piece of the Maine coast to bring home.
You’ll find Susan and her creations in the Old Port in the summer and at many craft fairs throughout the year. She also accepts custom creation requests.
